QMS Clinical System

  • Overview

  • Cygnet Infotech’s approach to advanced testing focused on the reduction in cycle time. We achieved it successfully by carrying out the manual and automated functional testing on the system in record time.

Client is the leader in providing comprehensive information management services to the field of renal dialysis treatment and management. Client’s mission is to help dialysis facilities to be more profitable while delivering quality care.

The Client needed assurance for the system. The system comprised of multiple complex modules that needed to be validated without any core documents. The end result provided a considerable Increase in Revenues

  • Technical Description

  • Architecture
The system employed client/server architecture, with a Windows-based front end and an Oracle database on the server side.

    Technical Description
The system was written in PowerBuilder and runs across various Microsoft Windows operating systems. The server application runs an Oracle database and provides a wide range of capabilities, such as triggers, stored procedures, and transaction processing (rollback). The server can run either Windows 2003 server or Unix as an operating system. Its size (if on-site) will depend on the user's requirements. A fully configured server would include multiple processors, fault-tolerant features, and a high-speed hard disk array.

    Interfaces
The client has developed an interface capable of integrating virtually any database currently in use in dialysis with their suite. While initially intended to integrate systems such as the Fresenius FDSO8, the interface (which is based on HL-7 protocol) has been adapted to similar systems provided by other manufacturers, as well as other medical databases, including laboratory and hospital systems.

  • Situation

  • The Client needed assurance for the system. The system comprised of multiple complex modules that needed to be validated without any core documents.

  • Solution

  • To meet the client requirement our testing team started understanding the system. Understanding the system was a complete challenge in itself since no proper functional flow documentation was their and the domain was also new. To ensure each application was as accessible as possible, a testing environment was created, so that each application could be tested under different conditions and with assistive technology.

Complete Testing Process was implemented right from Test Planning to Test Case Generation, Test Log Manitainence. Multiple types of testing were performed

    • Functional

    • Build Testing and

    • Smoke Testing

We also accessed the Database to verify integration of various modules. We also verified the Integration of FDS08 with the system. FDS08 use HL-7 protocol which is used share information between different healthcare systems
